The following comes from the North American Limousin
Foundation newsletter. Not only do Limousins win major steer shows in the USA
but they sell for a lot of money (and that is US dollars)
A Limousin steer was selected Supreme Champion Steer
over 2,056 other steers at the 2005 San Antonio Stock Show on Feb.18 and set a
new high-selling record in the premium auction at $109,000.
Erin Aelvoet showed the steer that was born and raised on her family's
Limousin ranch in Hondo, Texas. He was a 1/4/04 purebred son of EXLR Dakota
353G out of Amy Jo DHAN 20L and weighed 1,277 lbs on show day. The Aelvoet
family has been in the Limousin business for 25 years.
The Reserve Champion Limousin steer was also a purebred individual raised
and exhibited by a longtime Limousin family. James "Trey" Stolte III
of New Braunfels, Texas, exhibited the 11/4/03 purebred son of TXAS Kent 039K
out of TXAS Heavenly Luv 713G. He weighed 1,283 lbs.
A total of 96 Limousin steers were exhibited in the 2005 San Antonio Junior
Market Steer Show.

Mo
Pederson, a Limousin breeder and a director of ABIF is keen to find a Limousin
Breeder
prepared to donate a young bull or heifer to be auctioned at their normal sale
or a multi-
vendor sale with the proceeds going to the ABIF.
The
Limousin Youth Association has benefited signifigantly from ABIF over the last
two years
so a contribution from a Limousin breeder to support the donations of
Angus
breeders would be very much appreciated.
Yours in
Limousin,
Alex
