EYCI steadies?

More DNA Typing options

There is now considerable competition in the DNA typing business which has given members some more options. We now have an offer from Genetic Solutions which means that hair and semen can  submitted for DNA typing for the same cost as blood from the Company GTG of $22.00 provided the hair or semen is submitted through ALBS. Collection kits for hair samples are available from the ALBS office. You should be thinking about testing all of your stud  sires in use now as it will be compulsory for the sire of all calves registered after 1 July 2006 to have a DNA type on file. The only exception to this will be the progeny of “old” AI sires which do not have a DNA type on file.

Fassifern Limousins Keep Winning

Mo and Charleene Pederson emailed the following note;

 We thought we would let you know that we have completed our Far Northern Queensland show circuit. During the three shows that we competed in Fassifern Zeus claimed Supreme Champion Interbreed Bull at all shows which included Malanda, Atherton and Tully. We did not compete at Cairns as there were no British/ European classes for us but the Society has assured us they will fix that for next year. We had three different judges and competed against the following breeds: Brafords, Brahmans, Charbrays, Droughtmasters, Dexters, Limousins, Murray Greys, Piedmontese and Shorthorns.

Mo and Charleene have done a great job of promoting Limousins in north Queensland
