Almost Perfect Carcase at Perth Royal
Grand
Champion Carcase at the Perth Royal Show was a 3/4 Limousin 1/4 Murray Grey
steer which scored 99 points out of a possible 100 points. Exhibited by Jane
Bellinge and Arthur Dewar of Barleyfield Beef the steer had earlier won the
Champion Extra Heavyweight section in the hoof judging. Weighing 532 kg the
steer dressed at 62.8% for a 334 kg carcase and had a perfect score for
everything except marbling where he dropped a single point. I believe this to
be a record carcase score in Australia.
