Newsletter
for the week ending 8th April 2005
Our next major event is the National Show and Sale on Friday
29th April at the Wodonga Stud Selling Centre.
The AGM will take place at 4:00pm on Thursday 28th
April in the Nell Wilson Pavilion.
There are no Special Motions to be debated so the meeting should be a
short one.
A short AGM will leave time for a members forum immediately
following the AGM. The Board is seeking
input from members on three issues-
There will also be time for members to raise any other
issues they would like to.
At 6:00pm there will be a Barbeque and 'happy hour" for
all members and prospective buyers. All
cattle will be on display for inspection.
The National Show and Sale dinner will be at the Commercial
Club in Albury commencing 7:00pm on Friday 29th April. This is always a most enjoyable
evening. Please book for the dinner
with the ALBS Office.
I omitted to include that Birubi Limousins took out the Pair
of Bulls and Sires Progeny classes with a group sired by Kensal Vegemite
Kid. Not surprisingly Birubi were also
the most successful exhibitors.
Graeme and Lorraine Brand offered 12 bulls from their
Fernlea Stud at Taralgon (Vic) this week.
In a 100% clearance they topped at $4,250 for Fernlea Your
Spicy and averaged $2,930 in a very solid sale of French Pure bulls.
Alan and Anita Dixon of Lintwood Limousins offered 10 bulls
by Helmsman auction at their National Park property in southern Tasmainia
recently. They also had a complete
clearance topping with a five year old bull at $4,000 and averaged a very
healthy $3,380.
Kel and Inger Sorensen are offering 200 females on property
next Saturday, 16th April commencing at 1:00 pm. The offering includes 67 cows with or
without calves at foot, eight in calf heifers, eight joined heifers and 15
unjoined heifers and two bulls. The
catalogue is on the ALBS website.
The catalogue for the 45 lots in the Tramahler Invitation
Female Sale is now on the web. This
sale will be at the Gympie Saleyards on Saturday, 14th May. Printed catalogues will be available from
Trevor and Sheresse Tramacchi.
Farmfest Female Sale
Queensland Region of ALBS are conducting a female sale at
Farmfest on 7th June. More
details will be provided as they come to hand.
Sale Toppers at Adelong
At the Adelong (NSW) Store Sale this week a line of Limousin
X Steers and heifer weaners offered by Gundawillah Pastoral Co. made top
money. The 23 steer weaners weighing
265kg made $685 and their 22 heifer sisters
weighing 255kg made $665. Both lots
made close to 260 c/kg.
Yours in Limousin,
Alex McDonald
