Korumburra (Vic)
Helmut Krutsch from Vesper in Victoria faxed through the
results of an outstanding sale of 43 Limousin cross milk vealers 9 to 10 ˝
months sold by R & P Olsen of Poowong East at the Korumburra sale
yards. 14 heifers weighing 331kg sold
for 213.4c/ kg to average $707.20, the top price heifer weighing 395kg sold for
235.6c/kg or $930. 25 steer vealers
weighing 375kg averaged 226.5c/ kg or $849.50.
the top priced steer weighing 441kg sold for 237.2c/ kg or $975. No doubt the Olsen’s are using bulls bred by
the Krutsch family’s Vesper Hill Stud.
Max and Val Atkins sold a Limousin X heifer weighing 395kg
for 239c/ kg or $944 at Nowra on Monday to top the sale. Max assured me it was by a very good
Limousin bull!
In a sale where trade heifers made 185c/ kg to 196c/ kg, a
pen of pure Limousin heifers from Jack Massingham made 215c/ kg. The premium of almost 20c/ kg is not
uncommon for Limousins.
Warragul (Vic)
Karl Stoekeler at Ripplebrook in Victoria topped the
Warragul market with four yearling Limousin heifers on Monday. They averaged 420kg and made 237.2c/ kg or
$996. The top priced heifer weighed
480kg and made $1,138. Later in the
week he sold three cull Limousin cows which weighed 644kg for 157.2c/ kg or
$1,012. The top priced cow weighed

Joan Symons called to say that the first “babies” from the
French sire Nelson have arrived this week.
Nelson is owned by French breeder Pierre Gardette and was on display for
those Australians who visited France prior to the ILC Conference last year.
Yours in Limousin,
