Newsletter
for the Week ending 18th March 2005
There are three nominations for the two vacant positions of
Nationally Elected Director; Max Atkins, Wayne Churchill and Tony Zeller. Ballot papers will be posted next week and
must be received by 5.00pm Wednesday 13th April.
As there is no special business to be dealt with at the
Annual General Meeting in Wodonga on Thursday 28th April. There will be a Members Forum immediately
after the AGM.
The three topics to be discussed are-
"Breeding
the Right Type of Limousin"
"Should
ALBS Implement a Progeny Test Program for Young Bulls?"
"Should
all Bulls Used to Breed Registered Calves be DNA Typed?"
There will be an open segment for members to put forward
their views on any other topic, which affects the Limousin breed.
There should be some lively discussion so make sure you
attend and participate.
The steer show at Sydney Royal is being judged today. The steers are all purebred including 40
Limousin steers.
A new format was used to select the three steers chosen
which I am told were outstanding. They
were all bred by Terry Denniss of the Jordanspring Limousin Stud at Mudgee and
were prepared by St Stanislau College
at Bathurst.
Results of the live judging and carcass judging will be
published in the next newsletter.
The annual Tobias Limousin Sale was held on property at
Kurrboo, Forbes, using the "Helmsman" selling system last week. They cleared 19 bulls from the 23 on offer
to a top of $3,200 and an average of
$2,800.
Volume buyer was Hartley Grazing Company owned by Dick
Austen who selected nine bulls including the top priced bull for an average of
$2,560 to use in their 1200 cow herd.
If you think that a Woolorama would be all about sheep you
are wrong. The Wagin Woolorama in WA

Lakes Y- Front Man and the Champion Limousin female was White Lakes Zhivago's
Lara. The Interbreed progeny group was
won by Greenrange Limousins with a group sired by Wilson Downs Taurus and the

Limousins.
White Lakes Zhivago's Lara was judged the Interbreed
