Champion Lightweight and Grand
Champion Carcase with a near perfect score of 96.5 points was a 7/8 Limousin

Coonabarabran. The calf delivered a cash bonanza of $10,289 from the Jackpot
Competition which combines hoof and hook points and the sale price of the steer
where the steer topped the sale at $7.20 per kg carcase weight or $1756.
Champion Heavyweight carcase was a
South Devon X Limousin steer bred by Jim Joliffe of Singleton and prepared and

class ribbons. An outstanding result!

McDonald Shield for a team of three purebred steers for combined hoof and
carcase results. The winning team of black steers included steers from Roe and

Another Record Tumbles
What is now becoming a weekly event
a record price of 258.2 c/kg was paid
for a Limousin heifer at the Warragul sale last week. The 455 kg milk vealer
made $1174 for the vendor Noel Renshaw of Lillico. Other sales above 250 c/kg
at Warragul were ;
1 Limousin x vealer 400 kg @ 255
c/kg = $1020 Acc J Fry, Bunyip
1 limousin X vealer 435 kg @254.6
c/kg =$1107 Acc A Cochrane, Willow Grove
1 Limousin vealer 440 kg @ 253.2
C/kg = $1114 Acc S Redford, Neerim
Just to show how good these vealer
prices are a Limousin cross steer weighing 580 kg at Warragul made the excellent
price per kilogram for this weight of animal of 198.2 c/kg but a total of only
$1149.
Melanie goes out on a High
Tramahler
Melanie was the Grand Champion female at the EKKA in 1993 at 15 months of age.
After rearing many calves she was the Champion Prime Beast at the 2005
Maryborough Show at 13 years of age (it would be rare for a cow to win this
competition, let alone a 13 year old cow).
The final journey for this grand old
lady was to AMH Dinmore where she dressed 462 kg @295 c/kg or $1363 despite being
discount for being “too heavy and too fat” to hit the AMH top price grid.
Two other Limousin cows consigned to
AMH by Trevor and Sheresse Tramacchi averaged 345.5 kg @ 320 c/kg to average
$1189.
