When will it stop?

The Eastern Young Cattle Indicator rose again this week to 413 c/kg carcase weight which is up another 9 cents on last weeks record level. As shown below cull cow prices are also at very high levels. (especially if they are Limousin)

 

 Donna Valley Females hit $10,500

In a very strong sale 60 of 62 lots offered sold to a top of $10,500 and an average of $3,975 indicating considerable confidence in the Limousin breed from buyers from WA, SA, Vic and NSW. The top priced cow was Ramorniespry R20, a nine year old polled cow by Wulf’s Choice with an EXLR Latigo bull calf at foot and went to the Mandayen and Ramornie Limousin studs.

The 20 cow and calf units which were mostly “R” (1996) cows averaged $5,113.

Cows in calf topped at $7500 for Donna Valley Razzamatazz sold to the Cliftonview stud at Bairnsdale and averaged $3,375

Heifers topped at $7,250 for Donna Valley Poll Zara to the Willandra Limousin stud at Mudgee and averaged $3,249

Other high priced lots included Dauphin daughter Donna Valley Maxine X1028 which sold to new breeder Deanne Bulley from Langley Vale (NSW) and Garren Park Velveteen which sold for $8000 to Robert Doust of the Seaton Ross stud, Bridgetown WA. All prices are on the Limousin website.

Dungog Feature Show

A reminder for the Dungog NSW Limousin Feature show on Saturday 5th November. Entry forms are available from Alex Tickle ph 0249 921764.  There will also be a large Schools Junior judging event on Friday 4th November which attracted some 200 participants last year.

Toowoomba Sale Toppers

The Graham family from Kingaroy received some outstanding prices for “a load of culls” sold through Elders at Toowoomba Sale on Monday. All were purebred Limos 

3 weaner heifers 403 kg @225.2c for $908.31

2 heifers 430kg @ 242.2c for $1041.46

8 cull 'W' (4 year old) cows 622kg @ $190.6c/kg for $1186.49

 

The agent said he had never seen cows go for money like that.

 

Dalby Tops

John and Coral Winning of Glenview Limousins at Bell, Qld. Easily topped the Dalby sale for cows and bulls last week.

3 Limousin cows 627 kg @ 188.2 c/kg = 41179

1 Limousin bull 710 kg @ 189.2 c/kg = $1343

 

Warrnambool Sale Toppers

Ian and Joan Symons of Lanaud Limousins at Allansford also received top dollars for some cull cows and Limo X vealers this week.

2 Limousin cows 717 kg @ 181 c/kg = $1298

3 Limo X vealers 350 kg @ 225 c/kg = $787

 

Camden Record Breakers

What must be a record prices were paid for three Limousin steers at Camden Saleyards by MacCallum Inglis on Tuesday. The steers were sold account Sam Pace of Londenderry who regularly tops the Camden sale with Limo cattle

1 yearling steer 365 kg @274.2 c/kg = $1065

2 yearling steers 382.5 kg @ 273.2 c/kg = $1045

 

Moree Cows and Calves

Retired Limousin breeders, Jack and Betty ole sold the last of their commercial Limousins at Moree on Wednesday in what they described as outstanding prices.

The young cows had done it fairly tough and their Angus sired calves were sold separately

29 cows 415 kg @ 221.6 c/kg = $920

Steer calves 212 kg @ 218.6 c/kg = $463

Heifer calves 182.5 c/kg = $382

All up the 34 cows and calves averaged close to $1300

The cows were bought by the Scicluna family to add to their large commercial herd of Limousins at Spring Ridge, NSW

 

Nowra Sale Toppers

The Kendall family from Milton had their decision to set up a commercial limousin herd confirmed with a couple of outstanding sales at Nowra this week.

1 pure Limousin calf 105 kg @ 385 c/kg = $404

1 limo X vealer 315 kg @ 241 c/kg = $759

1 Limo X vealer 305 kg @ 231 c/kg = $705

1 Limo X vealer 295 kg @ 250 c/kg = $737
