International Limousin Conference

A feature event of the ILC Conference will be the judging of some 200 Limousin cattle at the Sydney Royal Show on Saturday 8th April.

Immediately after the Show there will be a Sale of about 30 elite Limousin females and a small number of bulls.

The sale is being conducted by Michael OSullivan who has organised the Black Bullseye Sale at Sydney Royal for several years and Greg Withers. Entry forms for the sale will be available from the Limousin office. If necessary a ballot will be held to limit the numbers in the sale.

 

New Caledonia Post Conference Tour

Christophe Verkimpe from the Limousin Society New Caledonia reports that plans are well advanced for the six day Post Conference Tour to New Caledonia. Joan Symons from Lanaud Limousins is coordinating a group of Australian breeders who are doing the New Caledonia tour.

QTL Sale Topped at $12500

The QTL Bull Sale at Rockhampton, Qld this week topped at $12500 and averaged $4500 with 40 of the 42 bulls offered selling.

Top priced bull was Tramahler Yazoo, a Lanacoora Jacques I son. Two bulls sold at $11000 to regular QTL buyer Bill Reid who runs a large Brahman Cross cow herd at Moura, Qld. These two bulls were Tramahler Yellow by Rosevale Daily Xpress and Tramahler Yardstick, a Bruangil Park Superchief son. Tramahler Limousins averaged $4600 for a complete clearance of 31 bulls. Beabula Limousins sold 3 bulls to a top of $6000 and an average of $3666. Ulster Limousins sold four bulls to a top of $3500 and an average of $3000. Danross Limousins sold one bull at $6000.

 

Ben Darroch Production Sale

The annual Ben Darroch Production Sale will be held at Ben Darroch on Thursday 21st October. The catalogue of 22 bulls, 46 females and 4 embryo lots is now on the Limousin website. Printed catalogues will be posted to all members in NSW, Vic, Tas and SA next week.

Wodonga Sale Toppers

New season milk vealers have started to arrive at Wodonga Saleyards and as usual Limousin cross calves are right at the top. The top five pens of steer vealers and the top five pens of heifer vealers were all Limousin Cross. Some of the top prices were
