JOINING AUSTRALIAN LIMOUSIN BREEDERS' SOCIETY
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
The Australian Limousin Breeders association is responsible for enhancing the marketability and market recognition of Limousin. This is done through promoting the role of Limousin in innovative beef businesses, supporting, enabling, and informing membership.
FOR THE FULL MEMBER
Full Members are those persons that operate Studs producing animals for sale that are herd book and performance recorded. Upon joining the ALBS members are invited to register an individual prefix/stud name in which will become their personal identifier. Full members have access to ILROnline for pedigree and performance recording as well as breed plan, with every member required to keep accurate records of their cattle across the database.
Full members have opportunity to participate in governance, including running for State and Executive Boards. Along with access to all technical support and breed development opportunities put forward by ALBS.
FOR THE YOUTH MEMBER
Youth members are those aged less than 25 years of age when the annual subscription is due. Youth members are entitled to enjoy the same benefits of attending functions and meetings organized by the ALBS and to register their cattle in the Herd Book and across the ALBS database. Youth members however hold no voting rights in general meetings and matters concerning governance of the ALBS.
FOR THE COMMERCIAL BREEDER
In becoming a Commercial member, you are able to enjoy access to the wide range of services available. While unable to register cattle or enjoy a voting right, commercial members are welcome to attend all events, webinars and conferences put on by the ALBS. They may also access technical and breed development services through the members portals and on the website, as well as receiving regular update through E- news subscriptions.
TECHNICAL SERVICES
The Association offers a range of technical support and advisory services, available to breeders. The ALBS Network is your network, and we are happy to connect you with a wealth of technical experts to support your needs.
A knowledgeable and dedicated team of Registrars can support all your pedigree and performance recording requirements. Genetic evaluations provide valuable information to members to support selection decisions and marketing campaigns.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
All members are offered opportunities to participate in a range of pasture and feedlot productivity trials to help guide their breeding, management, and marketing programs.
Never fear, if you do not wish to participate as a member you will be privy to all published results from ALBS research and development.
BREED PROMOTION
ALBS continuously works to promote the breed and its attributes. ALBS utilise the website, social media, E-News, Direct Mail and Advertising to keep maintaining brand recognition and breed exposure. An Annual Publication celebrating the breed, its people and supporters is also produced, and member participation is invited and encouraged.
Members can utilise ALBS resources for promotion including E-News, social media and Membership Mailing lists to advertise their own business and activities.
GOVERNANCE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The ALBS Board of Directors consists of six directors elected by the breeders, all representing different states. The Board of Directors is designed to assist in the advancement of the breed, through strategic planning and decision making.
REGIONAL COMMITTEE'S
Regional Committee's shall operate in accordance with the ALBS constitution, with office bearer positions being filled by members who reside in that region. Regional committees are formed to promote the interests of the Limousin breed within the region, through advertising, holding events and by encouraging or assisting in the holding of such events as shows and sales.
