With 365 head of cattle exhibited last weekend, the Canberra Royal Show claims to be the largest beef show outside the state capital city Royals. That was announced by chief cattle steward David McPhie during the judging of the interbreed champions on Sunday as the culmination of some 20 breeds represented in the four judging rings this year.

Highlight of the show was the awarding of Champion of Champions to the 20 month-old junior and grand Limousin champion female, Lavalla Kateri who was sired by Wulfs Xcellsior and shown by the Marist Brothers, Mittagong, Lavalla stud, Bowral. The Lavalla stud was established three years ago by Brother Anthony Robertson for the order at “The Hermitage”, Mittagong and now boasts 20 breeders. This heifer had earlier been awarded interbreed supreme female of the show.
