The rising two year old PTIC heifers turned plenty of heads in Mandayen’s 10th anniversary sale topping at $8000 and averaging $4296.

Mandayen stud principal Damian Gommers with the buyers of the $8000 equal top priced females. Andrew and Melissa Van Der Drift, Macorna Limousins, Macorna, Vic, bought four black cows with calves and two heifers including the top priced three in one unit . Marilyn and Chris Meade, Pelican Rise stud, Colac, Vic, secured the $8000 top priced heifer in the female sale.



Every second year -one of the largest Limousin breeders in Australia-offer a selection of top quality females and the catalogue which followed the bull sale was again top notch. Buyers were particularly keen to get their hands on the stud’s latest genetics.

The $8000 top priced heifer was 21 month old ET bred Mandayen Special Cookie J2418. The impeccably bred polled apricot heifer was sired by Mandayen Energizer E1338 who also sired the sale’s $15,000 top priced bull and out of one of the stud’s best cow families. Special Cookie J2418 ranked in the top 10pc of the breed for nine production traits and had been AI’d to FTL Double Agent and paddocked with Mandayen Guardian G1848. She was knocked down to Chris and Marilyn Meade, Pelican Rise stud, Colac, Vic.

Fellow Victorians Andrew and Melissa Van Der Drift, Macorna Limousins bought in the top end of the catalogue including the $8000 top priced cow and calf, Mandayen Connie D1128. The rising seven year old black polled female with a cracking seven month old heifer calf by Mandayen Fat Boy F1596 had been AI’d to Wulfs Zander- a bull Mandayen own the exclusive Australian marketing rights to She was paddocked with Summit Payday- the 2014 National Show & Sale champion.

The Van Der Drifts were also the sale’s volume female buyer with four cows with calves and two heifers.
Interstate competition was strong with just six females remaining in SA.

Two NSW schools added to their herds with Quirindi High School taking home Foone Jill F254 with a black polled bull calf for $7500, and Yanco Agricultural School securing Mandayen Temptress F1697 for $4000.

New Day Limousins, Crookwell, NSW were another multiple buyer with a $3000 cow and calf and two heifers at $6000 and $3000.

Mandayen offered a unique opportunity to make a selection from the heart of the herd offering up a pick of the 2014 calf crop. The successful bidder at $7000 was O’Sullivan Limousins, Rosewood, Qld who will have a choice of around 260 bull and heifer calves
