The Oakwood Straight up sale was held in Bundaberg on Saturday 6th February, in wet conditions.

The clear favourites in the catalogue were the black polled females, selling from $8,000 to $19,000, to average $12,700. Top Price of $19,000 went to the homo polled black five year old cow, Oakwood Made Tearz with a cracking young polled bull calf at foot. This top outfit was brought by Cooper Rafton; Mount Marshall, Qld. Cooper Rafton also purchased the second top price heifer Oakwood Gemz for $10,250.

The dam of the top price cow was the next lot into the ring. A 7 year old cow Oakwood Native Tearz, PTIC to the Canadian homo black polled RPY Paynes Derby, sold for $15,500 to Flemington Limousins; Batlow NSW.
A daughter of the top price female, 14 month black polled heifer, Oakwood Black Tearz sold for $12,000 to joint buyers; Fernvale Limousins and BJF Limousins, Yarraman Qld.

These three generations of black polled Limousin females grossed $46 500.

The top price apricot cow was 7 year old polled cow Oakwood Rizma who had an excellent polled black heifer calf at foot, the pair sold for $12,500 to M and T Dwan, Allora Qld. The Dwan’s purchased 3 cows to average $7,750.

Ulster 1 Limousins sold a total of 12 apricot lots to top at $7,500. The top price was a 4 year old with twin heifers at foot, Ulster 1 Golden lady, purchased by T and L Sutcliffe, Maitland NSW. They were also the volume buyers of the sale purchasing 4 cow and calf units to average $6562.50.

Equal top price for bulls were Ulster 1 Kacee sold for $5,500 to purchaser B and A McLoughlin, and Ulster 1 Kalen sold to Leon Limousins.

David Eagleson, Territory Rural McPherson in Alice Springs and Peter Brazier GDL Dalby shared the rostrum duties.

Recent heavy rain did not dampen the spirited bidding, with attendees competing strongly with the many telephone bidders. By the end of the sale 10 lots were sold to NSW and 2 to South Australia.
