Limousin steers were prominent in the purebred led steer competition at Adelaide Royal Show under the judge, John Manchee, Narrabri, NSW.
A 475kg steer bred by Fred & Jean Evans, Roean Limousins, Upper Sturt, SA and exhibited by Coomandook Area School was the Champion Heavy Domestic steer and went on to win Grand Champion steer.

A steer bred by Ken & Enid Modra, Limek Limousins, Bordertown, SA and exhibited by Naracoorte High School was the Champion Export steer.
The carcase results for Limousin were even more impressive than the led results.
The Champion Light Domestic carcase was from a Limousin bred and exhibited by Nola Smith, Meadowbrook Limousins, Willunga, SA with a score of 76.99 points. It had a dressing percentage of 61 percent and a carcase weight of 236.2 kg with a live weight of 385kg.
The Champion Heavy Domestic carcase was from a Limousin bred by Bruce and Sue Griffiths, Beckenham Limousins, Kyneton, Vic and exhibited by Lucindale Area School, scoring 79.90 points. The steer had a dressing percentage of 61 percent and a carcase weight of 265.8kg with a live weight of 435kg.
The Champion Export carcase and Grand Champion carcase was from a Limousin bred by Mandayen Limousins, Brinkley, SA and exhibited by Tintinara Area School with a score of 80.71 points. The steer had a dressing percentage of 63 percent, a carcase weight of 376.2kg and a live weight of 595kg. It scored maximum points for P8 fat, meat colour, rib fat and EMA and 4.5 out of 5 points for fat distribution. The steer measured 13 mm P8 fat, 7 mm rib fat, and had an EMA of 115 sq cm.
The Reserve Champion Export carcase was also a Limousin bred by Ken and Enid Modra, Limek Limousins and exhibited by Naracoorte High School, scoring 80.01 points. It had a dressing percentage of 63 percent, a carcase weight of 362.8kg and a live weight of 580kg. It also scored maximum points for P8 fat, meat colour, rib fat and EMA.
The O’Connor Shield team of three was victorious with a total of 320.76 points. The team included the Grand Champion led steer bred by Fred & Jean Evans, and exhibited by Coomandook Area School; the steer which produced the Reserve Champion Export carcase, bred by Ken & Enid Modra and exhibited by Naracoorte High School; and the steer which produced the Grand Champion carcase, bred by Mandayen Limousins and exhibited by Tintinara Area School.
